While many Alberta communities are seeing the drop in Covid related illness, families themselves may not quite be ready to go back to what once was considered “normal”. Instead, we are slowly learning to navigate our new normal – Filling our social buckets, while maintaining our social distance.
If you are running low on ideas on how to keep your family busy and entertained, please read below for a few ideas.
Picnic at the Park
Empty out the fridge and pantry, grab a large blanket and camp out for an afternoon of (socially distanced) people watching.
Outdoor Games for Smaller Groups
There are a few fun games that involve little contact but can still be played with a small group of friends. Think Soccer, Golfing (even the driving range) or kite flying.
Nature Walk Bingo
Creating a game of bingo, or a good old fashioned scavenger hunt, for a walk through local trails is sure to keep littles busy for hours.
Teaching kids about plant life, birds and insects that are native to Alberta is a great opportunity to count towards a home school lesson!
Playgrounds are Now Open!
Many playgrounds in Calgary, Red deer & surrounding communities are now open for PLAY! While this is incredibly exciting for kids, it is also a good opportunity to remind them of best practices while still having fun. Ensuring you wash hands before and upon returning home from the park. Keeping distance best you can and patiently waiting your turn on the swing.
