Setting And Following Through With Intentions

With 2019 being a few months underway, chances are that most New Years resolutions have already fallen by the wayside or haven’t started yet at all. If you are struggling to keep up with your intentions so far, read on below for a few tips on how to follow through with your vision and goals for the year.

Write It Down & Set Reminders

Putting those goals in writing, and breaking it down into specific & attainable benchmarks are a great way to hold yourself accountable. Put a reminder in your phone for monthly or quarterly check-ins with yourself to check on personal progress. This also helps to see what areas you have focused on more, versus the ones that may not have had as much attention.

Create a Reward System

What better way to stay motivated than dangling a carrot at the end of the stick?! Well…maybe not a carrot, but how about a special treat to help keep you motivated and on track. If your new year’s goals were specific to health and fitness, maybe a new pair of yoga pants or a special dinner out will be enough to keep the motivation going.

Setting Small Weekly or Monthly Goals

Breaking down one large goal into smaller weekly or monthly goals may help to focus on everything in the short term. Often times an intention, like “Be Healthier” is too vague and too high level to truly achieve. Drilling it down into smaller, more attainable benchmarks such as “Go for a walk three times a week” and “Prepare weekly lunchtime meals on Sundays” are much easier to meet and also contribute to the larger goal of living a healthier lifestyle.

 Be Gentle on Yourself

At the end of the day, change is gradual and takes a lot of time and commitment to see through. So, be easy on yourself and take it one day at a time.
